Rum Creek Golf is located at the intersection of Flippen Road and St Ives Court along Rum Creek in Stockbridge, Georgia and opened for business on July 1st 2002. The facility is visible from Interstate 75 just north of the Hudson Bridge exit (#224). Currently the 32 acres has a driving range, 1,250 yard 9-hole par 3 golf course, putting green and the location features an interesting past.

The region, as evidenced by numerous artifacts found on the land, was originally inhabited by Native Americans, predominately Creek Indians, who used the land for hunting and gathering. One of the arrowheads found on the property is estimated to be 9000 years old. During the 18th and 19th centuries the fertile soil along Rum Creek was cultivated with cane used for the production of molasses and distilled into rum – hence the name Rum Creek. Historians determined that the local farmers conscripted the rum to the confederate army during the civil war.

More recently the property served as crop land for the Broder dairy farm operation. The bottom land served as a source of silage and alfalfa hay for the Holstein and Brown Swiss herd. Hans and Margrit Broder immigrated from Switzerland 1951 and operated the dairy until 1987.

Today the site is the home of Henry County’s only fully lighted golf facility owned and operated by Hans Broder, Jr., and Christopher and Lisa Fisk.
